SABIC Innovative Plastics presented three technical papers and presentations on Extem* resins at the Society of Plastics Engineers Annual Technical Conference, ANTEC 2008.  The three topics presented were:

Extem UH Blends:  New thermoplastic polyimide (TPI) blends with capability to tailor glass transition temperatures exceeding 300°C.  These highest heat amorphous thermoplastic blends offer high temperature load bearing capability and dimensional stability.  These compositions also demonstrate excellent flame resistance and enhanced chemical resistance. 

Extem XH Resins:  A new amorphous thermoplastic polyimide (TPI) with glass transition temperatures of 267°C and high flow properties for improved melt processing.  The resin demonstrates dimensional stability and mechanical property retention at high temperatures making it ideal for high continuous use temperature applications. 

Extem UH & PEEK^TM  Blends:  New thermoplastic polyimide (TPI) and Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) blends improve high temperature load bearing capability and dimensional stability of PEEK resin.  These phase-separated blends maintain PEEK’s fast crystallization rate unlike other one-phase miscible PEEK blends.  Blend compositions can be varied to tailor mechanical, thermal, flow and end-use properties for a wide-array of applications.
